SheetCity Privacy Policy

Last revised: 1 August 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to all Google Workspace Add-ons published by SheetCity (“we”, “us”), including Select Special Cells and future SheetCity products, unless a specific product’s page states otherwise.

SheetCity respects your privacy and protects Google user data in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Data access

Our add-ons operate only within the Google Sheets™ document where you are using them.

An add-on reads spreadsheet data only when you explicitly run a feature — selecting blank cells or duplicate values, for example. That access exists solely to perform the operation you asked for.

Our add-ons do not access Google user data outside the active spreadsheet session.

Data usage

Spreadsheet content is used only to perform the function you requested, within your own sheet.

We do not use Google user data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or to train machine-learning models.

Information we collect

1. Email address

  • How: via Google OAuth (userinfo.email scope).
  • Why: to display your account email in the add-on interface, and — if you activate a paid licence — to match your licence to your purchase record with Gumroad and to enforce the one-account licence rule described below.
  • Retention: for as long as you use the add-on, or until you request deletion.

2. Licence data

If you purchase a Pro licence, your licence key is verified against Gumroad’s API when you activate it. We then store, in Google Apps Script’s Properties Service:

  • Your licence key. We retain it so we can re-verify your licence with Gumroad when needed and enforce the one-account rule below. It is never written to logs in readable form and is never sent to your browser.
  • The buyer email address returned by Gumroad’s verification response.
  • The date and time of verification, and the licence type.

These four items are stored in User Properties, private to your own Google account.

We also store one further item:

  • A service-wide record linking your licence key to the Google account that activated it. Unlike the items above, this is stored at the service level rather than inside your own account’s data, because its purpose is to detect the same key being used on a different account. It contains your licence key and the email address of the account that activated it, and nothing else.

Why we do this: licences are sold for use by one person on one Google account. This record is what allows us to refuse activation of a key that is already registered to someone else. Without it, a single purchased key could be shared indefinitely.

Retention: all of the above is kept until you deactivate your licence or ask us to delete it. Deactivating from inside the product removes the service-wide record too, which is what allows you to reactivate on a different account.

3. Usage data (anonymised)

  • How: recorded when you use features — which cell-selection type was used, whether the operation succeeded or failed, session duration, and whether you are on the Free or Pro tier — via PostHog, our product-analytics provider.
  • What it is tied to: a randomly generated anonymous identifier stored privately in your Google account. It is not linked to your email address or any other identifying information, and we have disabled PostHog’s person-profile feature so no user profile is built.
  • What is never sent: spreadsheet content, cell values, formulas, sheet names, and file names are never included in analytics events.
  • Why: to understand which features are useful and where the product fails.
  • Retention: per our PostHog account’s data-retention settings.

Limited use of Google user data

Google user data accessed through our add-ons is used strictly to:

  • provide the functionality you requested within Google Sheets;
  • manage your licence status;
  • improve the product through anonymised usage analytics.

We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except:

  • to Gumroad, for licence purchase, verification, and billing;
  • to PostHog, for aggregated, anonymised usage analytics;
  • where required by applicable law.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

Data storage

Spreadsheet content is processed only in memory, inside the Google Apps Script runtime, for as long as the requested operation takes. It is never stored by us, never transmitted to our own servers, and never shared.

Personal data:

  • Your licence key, buyer email, verification timestamp, and licence type are stored in Google Apps Script User Properties, private to your Google account.
  • The service-wide key-to-account record is stored in Google Apps Script Script Properties, accessible only to the add-on itself, not to other users.
  • Your email address is held by Gumroad as part of your purchase record, under their own privacy policy.
  • Anonymised usage events are held by PostHog.

We do not operate our own servers or databases. All storage described above is within Google Apps Script, Gumroad, or PostHog.

Data retention and deletion

How to delete your data

  • Deactivate your licence from the add-on’s License panel. This immediately removes your licence key, buyer email, verification timestamp, licence type, and the service-wide key-to-account record.
  • Email us. Send “Delete my data” to support@v1.sheetcity.com. We will delete your email address and associated records within 30 days and confirm when it is done.

A note about uninstalling: removing the add-on from your Google account stops it running, but does not by itself erase data already stored in Apps Script properties. If you want that data removed, deactivate your licence first, or email us. We would rather tell you this plainly than let you assume an uninstall is enough.

Gumroad payment records are retained by Gumroad under their own policy, and we cannot delete them on your behalf. Contact Gumroad directly for those.

Data protection

  • Spreadsheet data is accessed only inside Google’s secure Workspace environment.
  • Your licence key and email are transmitted to Gumroad over HTTPS, solely for verification and billing.
  • Licence keys are never written to logs in readable form, and are never exposed to the browser.
  • Access to Google user data is limited to the permissions required for the add-on to function.
  • Our add-ons load no third-party scripts and make no external network calls other than to Gumroad and PostHog.

Third-party services

  • Gumroad — payment processing and licence verification: https://gumroad.com/privacy
  • PostHog — anonymised product analytics: https://posthog.com/privacy

Each has its own privacy policy, and we recommend reading them.

Where data is held: anonymised analytics events are processed on PostHog’s United States infrastructure. Licence and payment data is held by Gumroad, which operates from the United States. Licence data stored in Google Apps Script properties resides within Google’s infrastructure. If you are outside these regions, your data is transferred to and processed in them.

Permissions

Our add-ons may request the following, depending on functionality:

  • spreadsheets.currentonly — read and edit the spreadsheet you are actively using.
  • script.container.ui — display the sidebar or dialog interface.
  • userinfo.email — retrieve your email address, to display it in the add-on and to manage licensing.
  • script.external_request — contact Gumroad for licence verification and PostHog for anonymised analytics.

These are used only while the add-on is running, and only to perform what you asked for or to manage your licence.

Your rights (India DPDP Act 2023)

If you are in India, you have the right to:

  • know what data we hold and why;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your data;

If you are outside India, we apply the same rights to everyone regardless of location.
